Forklift Classifications
The following forklift classes describe the application and fuel choice of each forklift. Certification is truly required for each and every class of forklift which the operator would be utilizing.
Class 1 - Electric Motor Rider Trucks
These forklifts come with either pneumatic or cushion tires. Pneumatic tires are recommended for outdoor use in dry conditions. The cushion tired models are made for indoor, smooth surfaces. These are electrically powered vehicles that make use of industrial batteries, that make them desirable in closed environments where air quality is a problem. Travel and hoist functions are controlled by transistor motor controllers. These are versatile units usually utilized everywhere from the loading dock to the storage facility.
Class 2 - Electric Motor Narrow Aisle Trucks
For the type of location where narrow aisles must be negotiated, this particular kind of forklift is suitable. They are efficient at making the most of storage space. Their unique design makes them ideal where speed is required and for small spaces.
Class 3 - Electric Motor Hand or Hand-Rider Trucks
These hand-controlled, battery-powered models are designed for the operator to stand in front of the truck and control the lift using a steering tiller. The tiller has controls mounted on top and is moved sideways to be able to maneuver the vehicle. The units that have smaller capacity utilize industrial batteries.
