History
Salzgitter Maschinenbau AG was started in 1919. The company was initially established by an engineer Anton Raky. Raky was a pioneer in oil drilling and modern drilling technology. The company's first name was Anton Raky, Tiefbohrungen in Salzgitter.
During the year 1937, the cornerstone for SMAG was laid when the manufacturing facility was purchased by the Salzgitter Group for constructing drilling equipment.
