Various Classes of Aerial Lift
Aerial lifts are a specialized kind of heavy machinery that enables employees to be lifted into the air. These machinery could be used to carry out repairs and maintenance in areas which are high up in the air such as on roofs, near power lines and street-light fixtures. Similar to most devices, there are different kinds of aerial lifts which can be utilized to carry out a variety of tasks. For the utmost safety, every type of different kind of equipment requires right training and specific qualifications prior to operation.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are often called Genie lifts. They are considered the most basic form of aerial lift. These lifts are made of a platform which is lifted up using pneumatic power and are mainly used indoors. Usually, scissor lifts are the safest kind of lift models. When completely compressed, these scissor lifts could be driven similar to big carts. Normally, when the platform is extended, they could not be driven for safety reasons. Before anybody could use these tools, workers should be certified as operators.
Boom Lifts
The boom lift is a a lot more complex pieces of aerial lift machine compared to a scissor lift. The boom lift normally has a much wider base to keep the lift anchored. It utilizes a jointed arm which has a bucket on the end of it. There is a control box located in the bucket that enables the operator to raise and lower the bucket. Since the arm of the boom is jointed, it could also move from side to side. The boom lift resembles a metal scorpion's tail. Usually, it is used in construction applications outdoors. The boom lift is considered to be more risky to run than scissor lifts, hence, operators have to be licensed separately for these types of lifts.
