How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great ease when using a scissor lift, as the ease of working and the lift basket's security gives peace of mind when attempting to perform tasks that would have otherwise needed working off the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this specific equipment make it the right alternative for carrying tasks from heights.
The majority of scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries that have been mounted directly onto the equipment. These batteries would have to be charged after a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is an easy job to charge the batteries. This can be carried out without any specialized equipment or tools and needs no heavy labor.
The machinery needs to be parked near an electrical output in order to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging place must also be in a well-ventilated place. After that, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button located in the lift basket, near the control box or the charger. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Normally, older units will have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
The AC extension cord should next be plugged into the charger. Be sure to charge in a well ventilated place and plug the cord into an electrical outlet. So as to prevent accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage area when in use, extreme danger can potentially take place.
