Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescopic booms are large industrial equipment designed with a straight boom arm which is extendable. The boom is normally located on a rotating turntable. The telescoping boom lifts are normally used for jobs which require tasks to be performed at heights which exceed other types of lifts. Like for instance, employees can perform exterior renovations or repairs on buildings of medium height but utilizing these lifts as opposed to having the additional work of setting up a pulley system or an outside elevator.
The boom lift is only designed to hold one individual. These buckets are more suitable to specific tasks like for instance electrical repair, as opposed to window washing or general maintenance. These lifts are available with both indoor and outdoor tires and are available in electric and gas configurations.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are named for the cross-braces below the work platform. These braces squeeze together to be able to push the platform straight up. Since these units must be positioned directly beneath the work location, these units are way more limited in their use compared to boom lifts.
The scissor lift usually has a bigger platform which enables the operator to control the lift to access a bigger work area when the lift platform is raised off the ground. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of a concern with these types of machinery, as they have to sit on flat ground in order to be used. Scissor lifts are great for being used for window installation or cladding, as they provide the personnel with the desired mobility; they are also a good choice for window cleaning applications or exterior repairs.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
The cherry picker or boom truck refers to the utility vehicle often used to lift employees for different tasks performed at heights. Typically, these types of trucks have a cab. It is here where the driver sits and operates the machine. There is a bucket for where the worker could stand as well as an actuator arm for lifting the boom and a winch for lifting.
Boom trucks take employees to heights that would normally be inaccessible. The function of cranes is to raise heavy supplies or equipment from one location to another. There are different types of cranes which can perform a variety of purposes. Both of these different kinds of machinery excel at different jobs and are great for certain applications and finishing certain tasks.
