Reach Truck
A reach truck is utilized to store supplies, pallets of goods, and to keep storage places orderly. The reach truck comes in quite a few types: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The most basic kind is the stand-up. The forks of the truck slide beneath the pallet and move it to the appropriate storage location. The forks slide the pallet into position. This particular type of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are just one pallet deep.
The double-deep reach truck is similar to the stand-up, but is ideal for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods. This particular version consists of telescopic forks designed to place the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when another pallet must go into the same shelving section.
The added advantage of straddle reaches is that they can both slide underneath the pallet and grasp the sides also. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in multiple directions. This particular model is ideal in situations where goods will not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Usually more than one type of reach truck is needed within warehouses. Textile companies and manufacturing facilities use different types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to use and could increase productivity while making the most of available storage space.
