Kinds of Hydraulic Cranes

One of the most common cranes in the construction industry is hydraulic cranes. They are used to make everything from freeway overpasses and roadways to skyscrapers and buildings.

There is a large range of crane models, styles and sizes available on the market. There are many different kinds in order to serve a variety of different purposes in the industry. Choosing the right kind of crane is really essential for making sure that the material could be safely and efficiently moved to the location it needs to get to in order for the construction process to start.

Truck Cranes

Typically, truck cranes have 2 different cabs. One cab is for controlling the crane and the other is for driving the truck when the unit is in transport mode. These cranes are really useful for building locations where a crane is required in many different places for the duration of the build. This is due to the fact that the crane is capable of being driven easily from one place to another.

Cranes can also be transported to different construction sites on the road because they drive themselves, which eliminates the need for extra transport vehicles. Being able to travel on their own really lessens transport costs at the end of the day.

One disadvantage of a truck crane is that it is not stable enough sitting on tires alone in order to be able to lift the major loads which a hydraulic crane can handle. Hence, to be able to fix this issue, outriggers can be extended from the deck. The outriggers use hydraulic pressure in order to slightly lift the truck off of the ground, making it balanced and stable.

Crawler-Mounted Cranes

The crawler crane is unique in that it has huge tracks on the bottom of the crane. These massive tracks are very like bulldozers and backhoes. The tracks enable the crane to move around a construction site successfully.
